Our Pastor's Testimony
Our Pastor has a wonderful testimony about how God has moved in his life. Our Pastor, Kennie Delt, is a survivor of four strokes. In 2003, following the first three strokes, he was paralyzed and was hospitalized. Many times he was told that he might never walk again, but on Christmas Day, he was allowed to go home to be with his family for the holiday. As a condition of his release from the hospital for the holiday, he was sent home with a wheelchair, which he never used.
On Easter Sunday of 2004, he was able to return to the church and preach his first sermon, since having the strokes. In 2004, even after suffering another stroke, he did not let this stop him, he returned home from the hospital on Tuesday, and was back in the pulpit for Bible Study on Wednesday.
In the meantime, Pastor Delt did not tell us that he had a tumor on the frontal lobe of his brain and that the doctor was telling him to basically, get his house in order. The doctor gave him two options, go through radiation treatments or have surgery. After much prayer and spiritual consultation, he decided to have the surgery.
Pastor Delt was told this surgery was not going to be easy. To get access to the tumor, the doctor would have to break his nose and then cut his nose. But again, God blessed our Pastor, because not only were the doctors able to remove the tumor without breaking his nose, but he only stayed in the hospital three days and then he was released. According to the doctor, he should have been in intensive care for about four weeks and then moved to a regular hospital room for the rest of his recovery. Now, Pastor Delt has buried the tumor, which was once trying to bury him.
